Laying Mother Down

I came to you again today. I came for the last time, to say goodbye and draw an end. You were beautiful then; peace and calm your new friends, at long last. The suffering was gone. It had lasted too long, though you never did give up. I was happy for you, for your knowledge of truth, and for the love poured out to your honor. I spoke a word in your behalf, and commended your devotion and your constance as my mother. I held your hand again and in my spiritual realm  I found understanding when  I perceived the  happiness in the new life you'd begun so I sang a song for you that made me happy; I remembered when you had sung it before. We sat at your side and took it all in stride, as we watched you fading away. And when it was time and you did resign, I remembered your utmost desire. Then into your ear, for the  strength you revere,  I whispered your favorite prayer. You go away, to a most sacred place and I am now afraid. I am without you. Your memory is a sweet perfume and lingers on now. As I clean out your room I am overcome with  my pain, but as I realize your gain, I find the strength at last  and I lay my mother down.                                  ****** She goes now, to her better place. I stay behind in the shadow of grace and I beacon to her, "go now, go, go in peace to your Lord!" She is in the height of her glory, far from her old home of worry. I clap my hands and let loose my heart I wish you well, while we are apart.                                  ****** The time has come, and I have had to lay my mother down.
