Fistful

A fist filled with dandelions        A face  smudged and damp.             A smile beaming with innocence       A body needing a nap.                             A mother with much to do         A child with a lazy afternoon        A day's lackluster passing           A moment gone too soon.                       "I brought you something mom"        "I picked them all myself"  "I thought you would like them mom"  "B'sides I think I saw an elf!"                  A busy mother stops her chore     To look closely at her boy             The day transformed suddenly From dull to a fistful of joy.
