Virgin

She has this treasure of herself no one should take away.    A one time gift for just one man who vows to always stay...    with her in sickness and in health 'neath matrimony's hedge.    Her heart, her life, her dignity his charge, his joy, his pledge.    Our culture gives great value to clean water, soil and air.    Commercials laud ecology. Our earth deserves great care.    Yet precious hearts of tender years are freely sacrificed,    to harden, scar, or break with tears. Virginity to vice.    While we have changed our attitudes of how to treat the earth.    As old and young - now everyone has learned of nature's worth.                         Yet...    This natural resource - that of youth is squandered, sold - beguiled.    Our movies market short-cut sex. Our laws abort the child.    With condoms, schools teach how and when to "safely" throw away,    virginity and innocence. Treat symptoms - not decay.    Don't give me trite excuses that desire can't be postponed.    Our choice was made - rejecting truth. The Sixties have come home.    As "feel good" flower children just dropped out and "did their thing,"    their offspring watched and followed suit, "loose morals, have your fling."    Today we lack desire to change our bankrupt moral code.    Where presidents do not inhale and marriage seems a joke.    "Free love" is paid by innocents strike back, for God's sake -  pray.    The fruit of broken marriages, are youth allowed to stray...    And float on waves of aimlessness. A culture cut adrift.    Where love ends once desire has cooled. Disease - its lasting gift.    You Mothers nurture sweetness in son and daughter's soul.    Share honestly through triumphs - tears, by modeling, they grow.    You Fathers, learn to be a man to be your daughter's knight.    To guard her honor with your "sword." Teach character with life.    And help her to respect herself in Christ she's been reclaimed.    To value her virginity and never be ashamed.    Teach sons respect for women as... your life will be their test.    That love waits for maturity and married sex is best!    Let virgins ripen on the vine encourage them to wait.    The sweetest fruit falls from the branch not bruised in frantic haste.    Let's heal one family at a time. Spend time and model "right,"    by starting with the simp'lest step...  and hug your child tonight.

Additional Notes:
Originally published on my website. If you give grammar a much lower score than the rest of the poem please clarify why. I've noticed a consistant scoring discrepancy with my poems and wonder what is lacking.
