Souls on the Edge

One is unyielding The other will bend Two journeying towards certain end? Fool's gold hopes.. their luster now faded The soul quietly drowns In the current it waded A face in the shadow reflects no light- The tears are loosed in the dark of night The virtues that could heal and bond have slipped away.. too far beyond A faceless dream reaches out A glimpse of what love is all about Elusively now, it fades away- A desire quenched yet another day

One of my favorites, Terrye ; very elegant wording here. The rhyme has a powerful effect and the owrd choices are superb. "Fool's gold hopes" is a great phrase, sand I especially like the last two lines of the first stanza ; powerful meaning and the rhyme is completed like a charm. "The tears are loosed in the dark of night" also stands out to me, and the final stanza makes an excellent summary. I gather this is about the act of soul-searching and the great lengths or risks that are often involved. Human souls are riddled with desire and longing, sometimes greed ; sometimes sacrifices are made along the way. Great poem! - Brandon
