Dylan at Loon Mountain (late summer 1997)

Dark shadows in amber skies as the sun begins to recede. Brillian flare of a spotlight on an aging hero dressed in black. The first chord was strummed on a classic acoustic guitar, reverberating in the cool mountain air. Brown-hued life-size photographs were an eerie background to the words (poetry) seasoned with maturity. Sweet, pungent aroma of burning cannabis swirled in our heads. An uncomforting dizziness drove us from our treasured space five feet from the footlights. Images flowed from a lifetime of unrequitted (requitted) moments. I suddenly felt smothered by the kindred depths of loneliness in the singer's eyes. A strange sadness hovered in the highland mist (empathy?) in my obscure, waning omnipresence. The warmth of my chosen life emanated beside.
