WHERE DO YOU GO?

Where do you go in search of yourself, When it’s your identity you seek? Where do you go in search of the gene That played such an important part in who you are? You go where you go alone, Because no one can possible know The nuances of your personality Or the ebb and flow of your spirit, As it has been tossed about on life’s tide. Where do you go in search of another’s comfort, When it is your own comfort you really seek as well? Where do you go in search of knowing that all is well, That if the “other” is at peace, Then, you are also? You go to where you know he is, Because no one else can possibly know The pain and struggle faced by the two, That has bound them together for life. Where do you go when life and its injustice Rest heavy on your mind? Where do you go when it all seems so cumbersome, And yet, so worthwhile? You go where the Spirit is. “And where is that?” you ask.. When, in all reality,  No one knows where the Spirit is, But rather, we sense its presence, Its coming and its going, And see its trail with the eyes of faith. And when you have gone on the wind of chance Or on the breath of the Spirit, You find that where you are is sometimes  More important than who you are. You find that what you give is more important  Than what you dream of receiving, And you find that there is an invisible tie That binds us all. And you rest, Even though life remains unjust.
