Beyond Beatles

When I was in High School in 1963 I saw a very bad change in our society Which affected greatly you and me Moral authority no more, ending liberty At sixteen time passed my reaction in delay The greatest betrayal since Judas sold Christ In opening exercise we shall no longer pray Since that order passed we have paid the price Six months later our President named Kennedy Was assassinated for the world to see I was in class called Problems of Democracy The first year our curriculum used TV It would be so naive to not follow the trail Of the godless plan to have our nation fail If it weren't for the Beatles we'd still be scared The joy they brought us almost everyone shared Even the Beatles went too far, breaking boundaries Some of those limits we find are necessities Beyond the music and fashion there is still hope We are grounded in some truths of some size and scope Now that the boomers are out of school, and free to pray With our families, in our homes, at our church every day Before '63 America was great, the future surely ours With God's Protection, hearing from Heaven only He empowers The Beatles were good for erasing our despair With their cute smiles and shocking shaggy hair Unlimited introspection took a wrong direction Awake, dead America it is time for resurrection
