Shadow Children

Pools of light disturb the shadows. The city grieves in silent streets. Orion shoots his burning bow. The moon is glowing, her time is fleet. A world of darkness, a world of pain, Shadow children ken the rage. Pools of light, a throbbing vein, Stirs the blood of those not caged. Sanctity ripped, dress torn, Her beauty flawed in stark gold lights. Mother earth immured, forlorn, The bride of night, beautiful, bright. Her siren song stirs the blood. Her peaceful visage, a hopeless bait. Her distant charm, a radiant bud. Her lightless children, fitting mates. Inconstant face pouring forth, Light and love and precious life. To seek, to strive for all they're worth, Their darkened souls whetted knives. A giving, caring, tender lover, She lights their paths within the dark. Her loving children still adore her, Though outcast for her sacred mark. The shadow children love each other, In their limited, desperate way. Would give their lives for one another, For in their heart each one does stay. In joy of life they walk the edge, A careless step is certain death. By dancing on this narrow ledge They thank her for each precious breath. Shadow children of the moon, Seek her love in the living night. We thank her for each precious boon And love her dear and fleeting sight.
