Tropical Reality

Stale blue stream of burning tobacco: a cloudy mist among the cluttered stack, cardboard boxes and discarded clothing. The stuffy wool jacket lies like an alien in the humid ray of a rising sun. Attempting to awaken senses with the first mug of caffeine and it's twin addiction. Browned webs on a white, yellowing wall. Wiping hazy dreams from weary eyes, trying to focus in the stark reality of fading fantasy. We traded the never-ending depths of icy northern New England winters for the false promises of a muggy paradise: "the Sunshine State" in a historic drought, relief coming in the daily shower  of lightning, thunder, brief torrential rains. Looking to gray skies in hopeful anticipation of swirling black of a tornado just to break-up the frustration. Dreams dissolved, washed-away with the torrents of another cloudburst.
