The Sisterhood

Yoo hoo, Sister Black...I'm right over here.. I just love these church suppers, don't you, dear? And the sermon this morning wasn't half bad, considering the pastor must be terribly sad. You mean you didn't know??  Yes, it's really true.. his daughter's run off with a new-age guru. I heard it from Sister Lester's niece, Carolyn Sue. Don't look now, but Sister Frances over there?.. She's using a Lady Clairol dye on her hair. Why, hers is even grayer than yours or mine.. some women will do anything to try to cheat time. She has her job cut out to keep that husband in tow; he's quite a bit younger than she is, you know. Red hair doesn't suit her..someone should tell her so. Little Sister Johnson really blesses me!.. Pregnant again - she already has three. That no-count man of hers is a drunken shame, but she never misses church service, just the same. ..About the lemon pie brought by Sister Ware?.. The last pie that she brought, I found a hair. I'm just letting you know so you'll be aware. Poor Sister Curtis has such a heavy cross to bear.. remember, dear, to add her to your list for prayer. Her son's joined up with a heavy metal band; Lord, it's almost more than a mother can stand. ..Just look at those two sisters by the door whispering.. I'd bet you a plug nickel those two are gossiping. Someone should remind them that gossip is a sin.

Additional Notes:
There is always a group of ladies (Sisters) in every church that gossip just a little...only they call it "sharing"..God bless them one and all.
