On the Road to Peace

Minds eye, blinded in pain. Oh! How I wish,I could change this, that. "Live each day anew!" Words offered by others But a tortured heart is deaf. Drive upon the highway of despair,  only to exit a wrong turn traveled. The angst relived, the esteem numbed. Like in a fog, the peace can be glimpsed at times, as a distant turn in the road ahead, only to disappear in the haze of self doubt. Drive,I will, until my life is on empty, searching for that rest stop of peace,  that fills so many a travelers heart. And the reward, the prize,  at journeys end, lies beyond the tolls not yet paid. The trip,  I fear,  will be a long one.
