I Vast Only Followink Orders! Against a cold and dark Spring night Six men huddled facing the faceless A voice rang out at the six "By order of the Fuhrer," this voice intoned "You are hereby sentenced to death." From beneath their black leathers the faceless pulled out their Lugers in unison and fired! One of the six started, "Our Father, which art in heav......" He never did get the last words out before he fell dead with his five comrades These men were just the beginning There was to be 44 others killed in the same cold blooded manner These men were only doing their duty which was to escape Mainly Canucks, some Brits, and a few Poles were only doing "their duty" for their country It all started in a tunnel known years later as "The Great Escape" God bless them all! |
Additional Notes:
176 P.O.W.'s made the attempt. All but a few were re-captured. 50 were executed on orders from
Hitler himself.
Philosophical Question: What is the difference between following orders, and just doing their
duty?
