Squishing Wishes

I liked being a kid, Cause the worlds not square It’s clay like, and squishes Into shapes with just wishes. Fear had little hold And gravity didn’t count When I’m bound to fly You better look out. I constructed a glider And ran down the hill The flyin’ was short And landin’ no thrill. Dirt filled my mouth And smashed my glider Gravity had an impact And I’m a little wiser. I liked not havin’ a watch Cause playin’ stopped clocks Days stretched forever Between timeless tick tocks. I liked cashin’ bottles Cause stuff was so cheap A few quarters would candy My craves for a week. I liked readin’ books Cause stories had life Words flowed to pictures With effortless delight. I like being with my kids Because I can go back To wishing and squishing In memories sweet snacks.
