The Dream

The WORLD lay out before me, A JEWEL shop with open doors; My eyes, ALONE, allowed to see The richness of its shining stores. Amidst the sparkling stones I spied ONE gem standing there ALONE; One GEM, for which I could have died. MAGNIFICENCE I yearned to own. Each facet, being so devined, That only ANGELS' fingers moved To etch each angle.  So refined, Each cut, by angels' HEARTS approved. All else seemed fake, IT shone so bright. Laid out on midnight, velvet fold, Its BRILLIANCE lit the moonless night; Its MYSTERY yet left untold. My desire to pluck PERFECTION From its bed so COLD and stark Was halted  by my own REFLECTION. ITS face a mirror in the dark. I woke once more to LIGHT of morn. Oh, blazened DAY to HOPE and care. I  felt refreshed, almost REBORN. Left IT in 'shadowlands' to SHARE.
