Remember Mossendjo

Dark lonely berth, chains tight round my legs. Death awaits a tally. I am a prince! Far away, the soil of my reign, knowing not my final destiny. Knowing well the pain of my journey. Close my eyes tight, the plain of Mossendjo beneath my feet, my shield and spear adorned with royal crest. My people at peace, land forgiving, providing. Mami Wata save me! Screams in a tongue I know not. Off this ship of the dying, Saves no grace, As I now know, I am the chattel of the new tribe, never again to lead my people. Children!  Forget not!  Your ancestral home, and the greatness of your fathers! Shed your chains, Never to be bound again, Or claimed in servitude, As one day, we shall be, As we were, Free.
