Never Forget The Night

The band was playing her favorite song. When he walked in, her heart beat strong. She knew in a moment her dream had arrived when she first glanced into his eyes. She fell in love with his sweet voice, when he asked her to dance, she was his choice. He took her by the hand, led her to the floor. She knew in an instant she couldn't want for more. She felt so special, he felt so right. She knew right then she'd never forget that night. Some time later down the road, they've gotten married and share a home. Dinner's on the table, but he's not yet home. No, this isn't the first time she ate alone. He pulls in the drive and walks in the door. He claims that he's sorry, just like the night before. He turns the radio on, playing a sweet love song. He says, "never again." She knows it won't last long. He took her by the hand, led her to the floor. She knew in that instant she couldn't ask for more. He held her so close, she held on so tight. From then on she knew she'd never forget that night. She called the office, he left an hour ago. What was going on? She didn't know. She left in the car to his office that night. On her way there, she passed a motel with fright. His car was parked in front of room 2B. She parked beside it by the window to see. He was with another, a stranger in the night. She held back her tears with all of her might. He took HER by the hand, and led HER to the floor. She knew in that instant she couldn't stand anymore. He held HER so close.  He held HER so tight. As she drove home she knew she'd never forget this night. She was waiting at home when he came in. This was one fight he wouldn't win. She told him what she saw, she told him to get out. His face full of confusion, his face full of doubt. She already packed a bag, already had a plan. She wasn't backing down, she had to take a stand. He turned on the radio, her favorite song was playing. As he walked closer, she started saying. This is one dance you'll be dancing alone, because I've had enough and I'm going back home. If she finds another, you deserve what you get. This is one night I'll never forget.
