The Slaughter

Aghast the choices that we make The laughing child the slaughter takes Horrified, we close our eyes Against the darkness that bears the lies Encouragement we take in stride Knowing that the child has lied Shamefully, we turn away To hide the guilt that comes our way Painfully, the slaughter's stronger The innocent child is no longer Salvation is the only out To fear no evil and know no doubt All benefits are taken in The honest child knows right from sin Blissfully, we hold out lights To shed the darkness that once was night Promises the chances hold The playful child can now be bold Mindfully, he plays the game There is no sorrow, there is no blame Happily there is no death The laughing child the slaughter left Quietly, we pray alone Thanking God, who returned our own
