This Man Named Stonewall

Since never so pious a mere man stood So humble to serve his countrymen all Nor any that did the South so much good This was this hero we knew as Stonewall 'twas a man of God despite all trouble And many a trouble those pale eyes saw As they skimmed the ground of war's bleak ruble A penitant man, this man named Stonewall Though his wife and child were taken from him His steadfast faith in God would never fall Even when the war's death toll had grown grim A faithful man was, this man named Stonewall He ne'er took credit for the things he had done Giving full glory to God wherewithall And then when asked how the battle was won "By the Lord" he'd say, this man named Stonewall His foot cavalry was known near and far For the speed and cunning with which they'd brawl And how they would stick to their posts like tar All being led by this man named Stonewall And thus with his death we suffered defeat For without Jackson our chance was too small With emperial force' conquest complete We tear in honour, this man named Stonewall
