Family Photographs

The photographs I got today   Show family members far away.   The children all have grown so.   There are a few that I don't know.   They were born when I was gone.   Now time has left it's mark upon   The older members of the clan.   I need to go home, if I can,   Before it is too late to see   These people who are dear to me.   I've imaged them as just the same   As when I left; these pictures came   And cause a sense of urgency.   The days are running out on me.   One aunt looks very fragile now.   I'd like to sit and tell her how   Her kindness always banished woe.   When it was time for me to go,   She was the one I missed the most.   Here she is a virtual ghost   Of that dear woman I recall,   But then, she's eighty, after all.   The years have flown; I don't know where.   I've not done much to show I care,   So I must hurry back to be   Within the realm of family.
