SLAM

SLAM One thing has been decided In the quest for racial peace The bondage of each race evenly divided Both sides praying for release How can cultures come together When they are ruled by governed division How may we see any way When we cannot comprehend the decision We have one side called black which is just not right The other side in the same boat is incorrectly called white It seems to me that leadership should not take us this way With constant building of divisive walls stronger every day There have been times of war and of worship When the races act as one Take Vietnam and Asuza Street  Seek the prize and run Division now taken as normal  Digested by common man A lesson taught quite informal As reason just got up and ran There is common mantra on most common ground Yet the ground sought never seems to be found In work and play and even in religion As if the vanity of fleeting fame Justifies division   © Copyright 2001      John Q. Hunt
