COME ALONE Sleep is loneliness In dreams, come alone, With wrinkled white sheets And mattress of stone. Breathless as darkness Life twisting in plume, Tears fall continuous, Flowers never bloom. Winters her mother Rainbows gently gone, Snowflakes her cover With sunshine at dawn. On dusty old roads By crosses she calls, Grief gives no clearance, Each day a star falls. Drowning in passage A turbulent sea, In waters so cold, Can love rescue me? |
