Screams

Screams sliced the night and my heart, An ice water duet by husband and wife, Ripping at our quilt sarcophagus, Struggling to the surface of consciousness, Our screams mingled and fed our fears. Someone is in our bedroom. Screaming as loudly as humanly possible, Desperately punching at shades of black, Falling off my bed I heard my wife scream, Suffocating in my fear, My eyes opened to dead shadows. Someone is in our bedroom. Tears of horror froze our faces, We twitched and turned looking for death, I searched for bloodstains, Embracing my wife to know she's alive, Just a dream, just a dream.
