Dad

I talked to God today                      God has great plans for me I asked what I could do                    I know you sense it, too To show how much I love you                But I know that it's because  And truly care for You.                    I see how He is with you. God told me you were simple                I'm proud that you're my Dad And easy to please, that is                I know you love me, too He told me just to tell you                And I can hardly wait That now I'm truly His.                    To praise His name right next to you. Thank you for your wisdom                  So when we get to heaven Thank you for your time                    We will have eternity Thank you, my daddy dear                   To worship Father God For walking the narrow line.               Where together we will be. I know it wasn't easy                      I thank God every day For you to step aside                      He chose you to be my Dad Watch me make mistakes                     I'm proud to say were friends That caused such pain and strife.          The best friend I've ever had. But the Lord kept His promise              Now that you know my heart That He'll never let me go                 I hope you understand He kept on speaking to me                  Exactly what I feel Though my response was slow.               I'll never meet a better man.                                                                                            I love you, Dad

Additional Notes:
This poem was written by my youngest daughter, Kathy, and I have her permission to submit it. As you can see from the poem there were some rough times when our relationship was severely strained. It took about 15 years to get to this point and with the help of the Lord I determined I would never give up on her. About fifteen years later you can see what happend by the content in the poem. Certainly a very great blessing to me which has filled my eyes with pleasant tears on numerous occassions. This poem was writtn with as little punctuation as possible which I believe causes a smoother flow while reading the poem. The word 'You'(the last word of the first verse) is purposely capitalized (also underlined on my copy here at home)to emphasize her special love that she has for me.
