FANTASY TRIP

Somewhere along the 17th parallel    my platoon sat sharing 'a doobie.' After 'toking my hit' this evening    I passed it back to 'Cannabis Hubie'. Smoke and fog muddied my sanity.    A vacated brain left my body behind. Dreams of bits and reality pieces    now clouded my euphoric mind. "We interrupt our scheduled program,"    sang an emotional Walter Cronkhite. "Breaking news just in, and then     we'll go back to The Edge of Night." "Airforce One landed in Vietnam today.    President Johnson met with Ho Chi Minh. What appeared as 'peace-talk' efforts    resulted in diplomacy's violent end." "Winner takes all and goes home!"    A rumor heard, maybe not so absurd. Since the voice was uttered in English    maybe Lyndon got in his final word." "Each man then chose a dueling pistol.    Back to back they each marched away. Amid US troops chanting, "Hey, hey,    LBJ how many kids did ya kill today?" "Johnson suddenly turned and fired!    His dander peaked not a second too late. Leader Ho Chi Minh's knees buckled.    His fall complete after meeting his fate." "The special forces of black suited men,    errant trigger-fingers all nervous, Minh's small contingency of guerrillas,    wiped out by a President's secret service." "Our troops will be coming home soon,    so we return back to The Guilding Light." Infamous Cronkhite words, "And that's the    way it is,"....just a fantasy trip tonight.

Additional Notes:
Cannabis Hubie was the most popular lad in the platoon. The kid with connections for his unending supply of Marijuana....
