Invocation

Rituals, rites, sacred nights, Precise tonation ringing clear. The circle cast for spiritual might, No price ever deemed too dear. Altar's blood dripping slow, Brown stained marble, reminder grim. Power's cost, eternal woe, Redemption's chance, all to slim. Oily incense in cloying air Chanting mantras swell around. Unhallowed halls their misery share With the skies and rivers and ground. Looming darkness swells to life. The Shadow's need pulsing strong. Call its name to hold its might, But God can't help you if you're wrong. The ward is cast, the sigils hold, The unwalled prison holds it fast. Intellect keen, the spirit bold, One mistake could be your last. The price of power is high indeed When it cost your very soul. Ambition's pyre a burning need. A heart that's empty, black as coal. Power pulsing through prison walls. Darkened hunger buffets your mind. Mental anguish, sweat does fall, Stings your eyes, your body blind. Doubt enfolds a mind too bold, Spirit too weak to ever bind, Mental image wavers, folds, Shadowed form devours your mind.
