D.E.R.O.S. D. DATE: Depart date from a tropical paradise generally at the conclusion of a one-year hitch in the Rupublic of South Vietnam. E. EXPECTED: To look forward to, likely to occur or appear. (Better word choices might include Exportation Expedited, however that normally reserved for pieces of men or those marked with and 'expiration date' and zipped in rubber bags.) R. RETURN: To go back to a former place, better known as HOME! O. OVER: To be above, on top, passing above the surface, how we wish this war, to return...over.... S. SEAS: Continuous bodies of salt water seperating Southeast Asia and the United States known as an ocean. DATE "EXPECTED" TO RETURN FROM OVER SEAS "Oh God please allow me to realize my D.E.R.O.S. in one piece. Still able to stand, run, walk, talk, pray, sit to take nourishment and pride in doing the job, not of my choice, but in the job choosen by You for me to do. I pray You allow me to restore my faith in my fellow man, my country and in You. More importantly I hope and pray You can forgive me and the troops for sins committed in carrying out these duties during our past tour. AMEN!" |
