The Director

Imagine the call for this great play, actors line up for eternity they say. The casting is liberal, credentials are low, yet lofty are present, so all trades grow. The pay is esteemed for all who partake, in a universal story where much is at stake. The joy of this piece is nothing is told, the actors all act, without script to unfold. The garments worn in, costume the cast, revealing their closet, and positions now past. Some seize control with purposeful hate, and consume good work in discord’s wake. Bicker turns brawl and sides are declared, Chaos is born and nothing is spared. The actors act selfish, and clamor for light, drunk on glamour, they’re a pitiful sight. The Director sits back and lets them grow weary, “This pace is not safe and I fear it dearly.” So he makes a call, to man of high place, “Come down here a moment and see the disgrace. I gave them so much, and little is left, The mix now unsavory, the divisions are set. Where is the remedy for this selfish lot? This rabble shall unravel all the work we’ve caught.” The man of high place views the procession. His eyes are peaceful in spite of the confession. “All is well from my vantaged view. The goal is in sight, let this bunch stew.” The Director beckons in prayer's call, "This course bears a force, only Divinity can stall!” The Luminous One shines and gifts his time, in the Chaos now bathed in presence Divine. “I will give of my best, my life and my breath. My spirit is pledged beyond even death. Fear not dear Director, when my light flows, true good marks, from this place start, the swing of the arc will surely show.” The Director is changed, and so is the light, Freedom's great gift has made this play right. Actors are staged, and new scripts are found. The craft is improved, the changes are sound. The gains of struggle are subtle at best, hidden in scenes, by actors who dream of Directing debuts when sleep is caressed.
