The Choice

I stood upon a great divide,                 surveying what lay on each side.                 To speak the words formed in my mind                 would leave my old life far behind,                 not ever to return again,                 and go where I had never been.                 But, unlike all the times before,                 I didn’t seek the open door.                 Instead of finding a way out,                 I finally felt love free from doubt.                 For me there was but one direction.                 So, without fear of rejection,                 I laid my heart out on the line                 and asked her if she would be mine.                 And like an angel from above                 she smiled and told me of her love.                 And then forever changed my life                 when she said she would be my wife.                 From that moment all things changed.                 My whole life has been rearranged.                 The past seems like the darkest night                 because my future looks so bright.
