The Coward's Deed

Trouble is cruising all through the night, The slinky sedan sneaks down the street, Searching to snuff the life in his sight. Silent streets, dark shadows standing guard, Peaceful homes unaware of pending plight, Chilling breath of death drifts by each door. Car creeps and sneaks down the quiet street, While villian's eyes pick their fated prey, Gun barks out loudly, shots then repeat. Bullets are streaking straight to their mark, Fleeing with fear, speeding down the street, He brags to his friends, I got my man. Boy falls to the floor, a rag doll so frail, Dying from wounds, his heart stops beating, The child lies limp, lifeless and pale. Father in the doorway screams in the night, Mother cries tears and begins to wail, God end this hatred, before tomorrow. Dark gray clouds salute this sad day, Solemn grave site, flooded with tears, Small white casket is lowered away. The gunman cruises and drinks to forget, Drives faster, chasing the devil they say, Crashing through the railing to his death.
