To Those Who Remain (Farewell To Eddie Keene)

I know that funerals should be a tribute to the dead. But my thoughts are with the living, so I’ll speak to them instead. I don’t have soothing words to say to make the heartache cease. I think that only time will help your troubled mind find peace. “If only” and “I should have” may be punishing your mind. I wish it could be different but life isn’t always kind. Nobody ever guaranteed that this life would be fair. At least Eddie had a family that he knew was always there. Eddie knew you loved him and you gave him all you could. You wanted all the best for him and only wished him good. You did the things you could to help him get his life on track. You always stood beside him and you never turned your back. So grieve for him, the Father, Brother, Son that you have lost. But do what you must to move on, no matter what the cost. The many memories of his life I know you won’t forget. But life is for the living, there’s no future in regret. In the comfort of your family you’ll find a soothing salve. So try to look around and count the blessings that you have. For everything there is a season, look for solace from above. Though you may not know the reason, seek the comfort of God’s love.
