Mementos Drifting East a rain of paper floats down, expelled from dark clouds. Gentle debris, fallout from blackened skies where the Twin Towers stood. Calendar pages, receipts, notes, photos blasted from their frames, blown off splintered desks, mementos of loved ones laid like lilies on shifting rubble, amid the twisted steel of Ground Zero, settling on streets covered in pale gray ash. A human paper trail dropped from heavens now ripped apart by hate. |
