'Sleeping Giant'

She woke up that morning, not knowing it would be her last. As she said her goodbyes and her “I love you’s,” she walked out of her house. In no apparent hurry, she headed for work, expecting the usual. Towering above her head, she gazes upon the building. The building, she had so often graced with her presence. Shaking below her feet, the massive tower of the World Trade Center begins to collapse. As the building falls,  every street corner becomes overcrowded with innocent people, who flee to save their own lives. America, Home of the Brave and Land of the Free. They paid the ultimate price for the thing we can call freedom. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The American Spirit lives on, as do the memories.    They can kill our men but they can’t take our spirit. Because this ‘sleeping giant,’ has just been awoken.

Additional Notes:
Dedicated to the victims and families of the tragedy of September 11th. This may not be as good as some of the others on this site, but it's something and I ask God to bless it.
