In So Many Words…

So honest when you were small But with all the words you learned, You learned to say nothing at all. To say, “How about the weather? I heard it might rain.” Not, “I’m under the weather. And feeling sad today.” In so many words, you say... There aren't any answers And you simply don't know the way. Incapable of silence in place Of having nothing real to share Sitting face to face. Why not feel comfort in knowing? We are all the same In all the lack of knowing. Just quit playing games. In so many words, you show... You are quite unsure Of what you say you know You use big words to hide And more words to mask The frightened child inside “If you have nothing nice to say” We’re told, “Say nothing at all.” “If you have nothing real to say.” I think, “Don't speak at all.” In so many words and so many ways... Your world is so silent And it’s such a shame.
