Thread of Hope

I have tread far against the roughest currents life can throw in any mortal's face  yet this world holds not a thread of hope  for the race of humanity. I am no longer a child and it seems the world is  getting crueler with every new morning my eyes behold  all I feel would it be better to close my eyes to the world than to live with open ones. For agony and despair have been my shadows for they to have followed me through my voyage. So I call upon my memories of childhood to see if courage and will are standing by  as once before; as soldiers ready to ambush the terrors of life. I do not see nor hear their marching feet  or their clashing of weapons. They are nowhere to be found! Where could they have gone?
