The Spirit Rises

When claws of human rage strike people down and fear's cruel talons slash through freedom's flight, the human spirit rises, soars unbound. Rough concrete, steel beams, plaster, fall to ground and daytime turns to dark through death-filled might when claws of human rage strike people down. As death stalks through the street and sirens sound, men rush into harm's way to brave the blight. The human spirit rises, soars unbound. Survivors flee the street of doom, compound burn injuries are treated; healers fight when claws of human rage strike people down. Still coved with the ash, rescue rebounds, one thousand humans toil throughout the night as human spirit rises, soars unbound. A city and a nation's heart is found As lady Liberty holds high our light when claws of human rage strike people down. the human spirit rises, soars unbound.
