United

September 11th. At 8:10 that morning, she boarded the plane, which was en route to California. She left me without saying goodbye. I look on as she boards the plane, trying to hold back the tears. “I love you,”  she replies with a faint smile, as she boards the huge airplane, with her backpack draped around her small shoulders. “How could this be?” I thought to myself, as I turn away from the airplane, trying to hide the tears. My girlfriend was on her way to California, and she was leaving me here, all alone, in Washington D.C. If she loved me, she wouldn’t be leaving. If I loved her, I wouldn’t let her go. Total confusion grips my heart, as I begin to leave. I watch her fly away, knowing I’ll never see her again.

Additional Notes:
I have another poem I wrote, which ties in with this. If you read this one, it's almost a must to read part 2. Part 2 is called As One. Please read it and thank you. (It will be posted sometime Friday or Saturday)
