Emotionless

Unaware as they emerge only lifting me away, memories of the past increasing more each day. Triggered by a sight or even a light embrace, awake or a dream, I struggle to fight disgrace.  My senses taken backward, thirty-one years ago, torture comes again climbing on a new plateau. Reasoning now is present, yet seeing the ghastly scene,  enduring savage grief left emotionless at seventeen.  Lapsed of consciousness now each memory arrives,  aware of the suffering, not believing a soul survives. The intensity did increase with each appalling assault,  mute emotions cinched tightly, fearful I’m at fault.  Discernment today unearthed of this foreign man, his thoughts well distorted much like the Taliban. Desiring that my life completely would he own, employing evil methods making his demands well known. Grateful I endured despite this hateful past, feelings of these rapes are contemptible and vast.  Senses intensely buried now tucked away inside,  tears will not flow since the day emotions died.

Additional Notes:
I have not been specific in this poem to the rape and torture, as the emotions are what my attention is on during this time. Thank you for reading this and listening to me. If you have any ideas to help discover buried emotions, I would appreciate some help.
