You and I Sitting, you and I Staring, you and I Across the bed Through each other As we've done So many years Saying no words They've all been said So many times before Walking, you and I Talking, you and I As we go through The places and scenes Worn in our minds Like old clothes Words come out They're always the same The usual, banal, nonsense Lying, you and I Crying, you and I There's too many ways We hurt each other Making wounds That just won't heal Leaving scars Ugly and bleeding Slowly dripping in pain Living, you and I Dying, you and I For the moments We both know Will never come to us Tired and exhausted Of this love Of this life We've made between us So damn this life, damn our love Damn those vows that fell from above Damn the truth, damn the lies Damn the stories and alibis Damn the moments, damn the years Damn the reasons that brought the tears Damn our lust, damn that bed Damn the words we never said Damn the airs, damn the violence Damn the stares, damn the silence Damn you and I, damn what's been Damn it all, and damn it again |
