"Boom"erang

The promised blow was finally thrown fanatic's fervent dream.    The smoke still rises, tangled steel our heroes rot, unseen.     Yet this foul 'boom'erang returned with 'bundant blessings and. . .     united strangers, fam'lies, friends across this flag-filled land.     As faith and love now blossom from the ashes of our grief.     As wond'ring seekers flock to church and change bankrupt beliefs.     Cynicism bows to grief  indif'rance melts with tears.     As greed and avarice have died new strength springs forth from fear.     This 'boom'erang brought blessing's flood we've turned from selfish gain.     To ask what matters in the end new values grown through pain.     The enemy may welcome war their vengeful "holy" rod.     While here it has united 'US.' one nation under God.     They hope the world will self-destruct transformed one flame-filled hour.     Yet all they've done is light the fuse this 'boom'erang of power.
