To My Children

No matter what your fears, and if I see your tears, I'll be your shade. If your road begins to unwind you can't brush shadows from mind. If mistakes leave you shaken and burned remember they are only lessons to be learned. My way may not be your way but if you lose your way, I'll be your shade. If you falter, stumble or fall or just can't carry it all, I'll be your shade. I can't change the world I brought you to I can't always quiet your fears I can't even cry your tears. But I will always love and care for you and even when I am gone, I'll be your shade.

Additional Notes:
There are two lines in this poem that I remember from an old song.
