The Weathered Rose

Sweet lady fair, why is it that I cannot love you more, when I'm taken with your beauty and your kiss I do adore? Is it me?  Am I incapable of letting someone in? Or do I believe that love's a game you very seldom win? It doesn't matter too much now the reason or the cause. When it comes to how a person feels there are no written laws. I think of the sweet memories, the precious times we shared, and I know what made it special was the fact that we both cared. But now our paths have parted and the river keeps on flowing, with neither of us very sure which way things will be going. But however things might go, or where our paths may finally end, I want to take the time to let you know you are my friend. A friend I love in so many ways and never want to lose. May you have all life has to give in whatever path you choose. Maybe some night, when things are right, and in sleeps arms we're lying. We'll meet up in the clouds and you can finally take me flying. Our souls will know each other and we can embrace once again. And free from the doubts and cares of life, express the love within. May your spirit never waiver, or your memories perish. My wish for you, the weathered rose whose touch I grew to cherish.

Additional Notes:
An old poem, from another time. I hope you enjoy it half as much as I enjoy the memories that inspired it.
