We'll Make No Mention Of It Then

If we cannot trust it to continue Upon at least a constant venue, Then its virtue we should not defend; Nor, one more day with lie, pretend That we possess the sailing strength To journey forth the journey’s length. If we are strangers to that sacrifice And cannot surrender selfish vice, Then our loneliness we should atone And leave what’s well enough, alone. If not friends now, nor never been, We’ll make no mention of it then.
