Spirit of Christmas

The "ghost of Christmas past" Left me a gift On Christmas eve As I slept. He gave a present meant to last, Bound to uplift, Help me believe, And I wept. I, an awestruck child Who had nothing, Transported, left standing Beside an ancient king Before the Christchild. And I beheld his holy face, As angels' voices I heard.... Sing Hallelujah!! And I received the same grace, As my lips formed the word.... Hallelujah! Whether or not I dreamed Meant little to me, For in that moment it seemed That I could see In that simple Nativity.... The Star of all Eternity!
