Her Eyes Have Hands

her eyes have hands that travel silently (through the crisp frozen air which hangs above the dirt road and corn fields where i imagine we might walk and have the dirty tractor ruts crumble beneath our shoes the barking of the neighbor’s dog a mile off  the wet smells of growth the thought of conversation but mostly silence.) they come and gather mine and before i know it i have acquiesced to all their requests. i would call them gentle but they carry far too much history, and wars I’m sure have been fought within their reach. i will never decline their comfort but i am learning to appreciate more the way they break me into the smallest pieces and do not run.
