Slander’s Embers

Fear tightens my languid spine  i lay still. A teardrop of desired dew  caresses a morning blade of grass Double-edged Tongues of Fire hover as burning embers await their cue  scoff my face with searing words Alight at the slightest breeze ready to brand my trembling skin an invisible tattoo, crippling pain Holding my breath for fear  any breeze that departs my lips should keep embers burning longer Water that is awaited come salve slander's embers! But time frugally pours. the embers die without fuel A thick black layer of soot left on my cheeks for memory to wipe off and be rid of.

Additional Notes:
The "i" is intentionally small caps as is "the embers die..."
