Patterns

We weave a pattern  in the communal dining room as in all of life’s journeys intricate and beautiful. The very young walk straight ahead aiming for the kitchen window carrying their used plates and utensils, eyes focused on the floor leaving the adults to out-sway and in-sway around them. Walking with determination toward their goal, the dinnerware teeters in uncertain small hands. Dancing  out of their way, adults teeter, unconsciously presaging the future.
