Samuel's Hand

The light was bright, warmly focused on the delicate task at hand. Incisions made and conception's cradle brought shimmering into the light. Probing prognostics told the life inside this mother's womb was troubled to survive yet now by guided hand, healed. Devine was the order, brilliant the application of mind, created for the concert of human striving with holy will to repair and redeem. Now again the blade of life opens a tiny window and light makes premature entry into this red-dark world. With mind and tools far be it from poets to name whole life given, beyond chance to claim or understand. Then one lasting scene before final care and mending the little hand reaching teaching us all thanksgiving. Five perfect little fingers grasping, holding on, linked to what he could become a warm giant in a frozen land.
