Wrinkles

A friend of mine once told me, that sadness causes wrinkles. Each sad time adds a wrinkle to the heart. I hope within these words she spoke, that caused me such alarm. I hope there is no truth in that remark.   For if there is a shred of truth, my heart would be a raisin. For I have seen some sadness in my time. I’ve seen how hope is taken. At times I’ve felt forgotten. The answer may be simple, yet sublime. For I have felt a broken heart. I did not feel a wrinkle. Maybe I was feeling much too deep. Maybe I will take this chance, to check my heart for wrinkles. Maybe, if my heart is not asleep. Maybe if it’s sleeping, I’ll be careful not to wake it. Maybe I will whisper in it’s ear. Maybe I will speak to it, maybe if it answers, wrinkled wisdom in it’s voice I just may hear. But then again I fear in this, I fear in finding wrinkles. I fear in finding wrinkles in it’s voice. This would mean that sadness, leaves a mark within forever. This to me, is no cause for rejoice. Then again, I think within, if sadness causes wrinkles. Then happy times might smooth these wrinkles out. Happy times might be an iron, warmed by inner hope. Happy times that none can live without. So let us make one happy moment, each and every day. Let us take from this a smile as we share. Let us find forgiveness. Let us find compassion. Let us also find a way to show we care. Let us lend a helping hand to anyone in need. If this will help to take the wrinkles from our hearts. If we walk in this direction, we may clear our hearts complexion. Leaving ONLY wrinkles that a smile starts.
