Breaking the Rules

Young girl sits alone looking toward the sky. Blue eyes very sad searching as to why.  Hair wisps in the wind a warm caressing breeze. Face streaked with sorrow she prays on wounded knees. A heart filled with terror afraid to breathe a word. Death of her innocence  nor to speak or be heard. Arms raised above her head staring at the sun. Feelings now are numb her young life outdone. They told her they would kill her mommy and her dad. After how they hurt her to tell would make them mad. Years later she looks back perceiving what they did. Not just to her body moreover to her id. Grown up and mature confronting pain of past. The men, all four, now dead she tells of all at last. Why would they do this to a child so small? No answers does she find yet she will now stand tall.
