I stand alone

I stand alone,  amidst the ruins—                covered in ebon soot. Embers smolder, remnants of dreams—                that deception took. I watched the fire burning, an inferno, my body withstood. As my heart and soul,  were devoured by flames. Consumed—                like bone-dry wood Stone cold cinders sting my eyes, As the roar of hopelessness rings in my head.   The taste of ashes is strong upon my tongue. Scorched and seared,  my body aches. Agonizing sorrow—                has only just begun. Gone… I whisper through parched lips. The tears refuse to come How could a love that blazed so bright—                Devastate someone? In the wreckage –                 Nothing,  No trace left of my dreams, the essence of my spirit lost,  no hint of devotion seen. I felt them all incinerate,  as I survived the heat. Now I stand here—                Desolate. Debris piled at my feet.
